First Home Owner Grant
The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) is a national scheme that provides a one-off payment to eligible first home buyers who purchase or build a new home. The amount of the grant varies depending on the state or territory you are in.
To be eligible for the FHOG, you must meet certain criteria such as being an Australian citizen or permanent resident, being over 18 years old, and never having owned a property before. The FHOG is generally only available for new homes.

- Its value must be less than $800,000

Who can apply
To qualify as a first home buyer, you must be purchasing the first home you or your spouse have owned or co-owned in Australia, although there are some exceptions.
You must also move into the property within 12 months, and live there for at least six continuous months.
You must be:
- an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia
- at least 18 years old.
